Research and learning about beekeeping
When I decided I want to be a beekeeper after many years of wishes I went and hunted down every possible beekeeping resource on the Internet. First I was looking for plans for Langstroth beehives since those were the ones I was familiar with.I found many good plans on Beesource.com and while looking at them I started to worry about my carpenter skills. I saw many Langstroth beehives that people and bee equipment companies sell but the prices are way over the kind of money I was prepared to spend for a hobby. I never worked with wood or built anything out of wood but decided that I will try yet another thing in my life - woodworking.
The day came when I prepared to go to the workshop to get me some wood ( I already had some old woodworking equipment in the basement from earlier generations of my lady's relatives so I just needed wood ). Again I went to beesource.com website to give last look at some plans and I discovered they have Beekeeping forum also. So I went inside and was browsing through their sections and stumbled upon Top Bar Hives forum and there it said : Minimalist beekeeping au natural.
That sure got my attention since I like minimalist approach to everything. After reading all 36 pages of topics that day I was pretty sure I want Top Bar Beehive.
